Building Partially Collapses in Dania Beach, Florida
A building partially collapsed in Dania Beach, Florida, on Aug. 9, according to local reports.
An exterior wall of the building, located at 21 N. Federal Highway, broke off, exposing the inside.
“It was crazy, I was panicking. The first thing I thought (was), hopefully no one got hurt,” said Yvonne Reis, a friend of the business owners, according to Local10.
The building was occupied at the time of the collapse, said Broward Sheriff’s Office Department of Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael Kane.
“We have searched the building with our K-9. We have had firefighters through the building. We have found no victims,” Kane said.
It happened as construction workers were carrying out an excavation on the south side of the building, according to CBS Miami.
The CBS affiliate reported that a kitten was rescued from the rubble.
